We partnered with three of our principals to deliver a complete, finished assembly. Our team established estimated annual usage (EAU) and inventory min/max levels, which supported a blanket order that let the customer buy at scale and at a price point that worked for them. Releases are then shipped just-in-time to match their build schedule.
A custom machine builder needed a precision plastic guide, approximately 2.6 m x 1.5 m, to merge eight assembly lines into a single channel for packaging. Because the components and timing were so exacting, the guide had to hold tight...
Newact machined the entire part in a single setup, holding tolerance from end to end. Their precision routers cut the guide channels, then changed tools mid-run to add countersinks and mounting holes. Other shops would typically machine one half, remove and reorient the part, then machine the other half, which risks the very tolerances the guide depends on.
The customer was experiencing supply and quality disruption as the business was scaling to meet demand. The customer worked with Clow on how their unique manufacturing process can scale quickly to meet their delivery and quantity demand.
Our team analyzed their unique process to combine stamping processes in fewer actions. By incorporating blanking, piercing and stenciling into one tool, incorporating coil feeding and one additional forming process, we were able to meet their pricing and delivery requirements. Our value-added network provided the additional plating required allowing Clow to provide the customer with a finished part.
Our client in the recreational industry requires a bracket on a 10,000 part blanket order. The former laser and bend price on 2,500 pieces was $2.65, with no additional tooling charges.
Using our proven process, at a 2,500 piece release, each part cost approx. $1.45 (with a one-time $1,000 tooling charge). By switching to short run stampings, our client generated an $11,000 savings (on 10,000 pieces annually). If you had 10 parts like this, you could generate over $110,000 a year in savings.
Weigel & Associates proudly serves manufacturers across Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Contact one of our knowledgeable sales representatives to get your project started.
When your project demands tight tolerances, complex geometries, or materials that push the limits of conventional manufacturing, you need a partner with the experience and equipment to back it up. Newact Inc. has spent over 50 years building exactly that reputation — a full-service precision manufacturer serving industries from aerospace and medical to food processing and material handling, all from their facility in Batavia, Ohio.
What sets Newact apart starts on the shop floor. Their large-format CNC machining capability for plastics and aluminum — including CNC routers with 5′ × 10′ travel — means they can tackle parts that most shops simply turn away. More importantly, they don’t just cut big parts; they hold tight tolerances across those large surface areas. That combination of scale and precision is rare, and it’s what makes Newact the right call when your plastic or aluminum component can’t afford to be close enough.
Newact’s rubber molding operation is built around one key advantage: everything stays in house. From compound selection and mold design to press time and finishing, their team controls the entire process. That in-house tooling capability means faster turnaround, tighter quality control, and the flexibility to make design changes without the delays and markups that come with outsourcing your tooling. Whether you’re working with thermoset rubber, thermoplastic elastomers, or specialized compounds, Newact has the press capacity and expertise to deliver parts that perform.
Perhaps one of the most underappreciated strengths at Newact is their ability to scale with you. Many manufacturers force you to choose — either commit to high volumes or pay prototype pricing forever. Newact bridges that gap. Their team supports customers from the very first prototype through low-volume production runs and on into full-scale manufacturing, without requiring you to requalify a new supplier at every stage. That continuity means fewer headaches, consistent quality, and a partner who understands your part as well as you do.
The team at Newact also brings genuine design support to the table. Need help selecting the right machined plastic or molded rubber compound for your application? Working through a challenging plastic geometry? Their experienced engineers can assist with material selection, part design, and mold design — turning what could be costly trial and error into a streamlined path to a finished, production-ready component.
For companies sourcing precision plastic, aluminum, and rubber components across the Midwest and beyond, Newact Inc. represents a unique combination of capability, craftsmanship, and capacity. Whether you’re launching a new product or looking for a more reliable manufacturing partner on an existing line, Newact is ready to deliver — at scale, to tolerance, the first time.

Even in today’s high-tech world short run stampings still provide a key component in the lean manufacturing model. From 50 to 50,000 parts, short run stampings allow you to get a high quality part at an inexpensive piece cost. With a variety of stamping and metal forming companies out there, why should you choose short run stamping and the Clow Stamping Company as the supplier for your upcoming project?
PRICE– Both tooling and piece part costs are kept to a minimum through the use of common holders and common forming tools used by many of our customers. Clow makes all of their tooling in-house and maintains the tool for the entire production of the part. You can expect the tooling to be 5-10% of the average cost of a progressive tool.
QUALITY– Through the use of technical advances in both engineering and quality control, stampings will provide you with quality unmatched by most other manufacturing processes such as a turret press. A stamping can provide a prettier part without creating the burr a turret or laser would create.
DELIVERY– Technical advances, such as wire EDM machines, have drastically reduced tooling times. With an average on-time delivery rate of 99.5%+ Clow is set up to be the reliable supplier you can trust.
VALUE ADDED– With the aid of our outside services, which we work closely with, we can provide various value-added operations. Examples are: plating, painting, silk-screening, heat treat, etc.
To see how the Clow Stamping Co. can help with your next project, reach out to our team at 513-438-8600 or sales@weigel-associates.com for more information. We look forward to the opportunity to earn your business.
Is a lack of an Inventory Management Program causing headaches that lead to a loss in productivity and profit?
Do you face pressure to keep as little inventory on the shelf as possible? Are you subject to the peaks and valleys of a seasonal business cycle? Do you like to take price discounts of bulk purchases but lack the space needed to store a large amount of product? Do you have too many SKUs and not enough time to stay organized and up to date with the needs of your production staff? Are international vendor prices enticing but the turnaround time is too long?
Let Weigel & Associates and Mercer Supply help develop a Stock Program that is right for you. They will help you balance the price factors you need to stay competitive while providing a system that will set your mind at ease.
“I don’t have time and too many SKUs to manage my inventory”– Mercer can create a State of the Art Stock Program where they visit your site based on your production schedule. They will tag and bin each item of your program and set visits based on your schedule to measure and fill your hardware.

In 1973, Tom Dugle founded Deltec to supply specialty sheet metal parts to local Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) in need of a supplier who could provide the extra touch and care needed to produce their products. This allowed Deltec to work hand-in-hand with these companies on special projects, developing better methods to manufacture and improve the overall design and performance of the parts.
Now with 3rd generation Sheet Metal Fabricator Jason Dugle in charge, Deltec uses the same principles his grandfather instilled to work with his customers in the ever competitive laser fabrication marketplace. They take pride in taking the time to listen, learn and understand what their customers’ needs are.
Design- Recently one of Deltec’s customers had a need for castings but had a 12 week lead time. The problem was they were awarded the bid with a 6 week delivery. Out of options with the foundry, they contacted Deltec to see how they could help. Jason and his team were able to reverse-engineer the casting into sheet metal enclosure and delivered it within a week.
Adaptability- Unlike your standard Job-Shop, Deltec has the ability to take your project from Design to Prototyping and Production. Whether starting from scratch or refining an existing product, they can be there for you. From finishing, powder coating, machining, and welding, Deltec has the operations you need on hand to fit your project.
Quality– An OEM recently came to Deltec because their in house operation had issues with weldments failing quality audits and the material losing its appearance. This led to increased costs and missed deadlines to customers. Deltec’s engineering department was able to experiment with materials to help improve the performance of their weldment while the finishing department was able to provide an esthetically pleasing look needed for completion.
As you review the services and capabilities Deltec has to offer, you will see that the experienced staff, state of the art facility, and uncompromising commitment to customer satisfaction sets them apart. Whether you have a need for Custom Fabrication, Precision Weldments, or Custom Products, let Jason and his staff show you why they are a leading Laser Fabricator in the Midwest.
Let the Weigel & Associates and Deltec help you with your next project or concept and allow us to show you why we are a leader in custom manufacturing solutions. Please reach out to our team at 513-438-8600 or sales@weigel-associates.com . We look forward to the opportunity to earn your business.

This month, we spotlight one of our premier manufacturers, Newact Inc. out of Batavia, OH. Newact specializes in precision machining of Plastics and Aluminum. In addition to machining, Newact has manufactured custom Rubber Molded parts since 1987.
Newact Inc. has made a name in the plastics machining industry by utilizing unique forms of manufacturing. While the lathes and mills are traditionally used in plastics machining, Newact applies the usage of CNC Routers in production. Their CNC table routers provide advantages in the production process that sets Newact apart from common plastic and aluminum machining companies.
What makes Newact different?
Speed
A CNC Router runs on average of 2x the speed of a mill. This allows for a better per piece price due to shorter production times. Using a CNC Router also allows for nesting and a reduction of waste, thereby limiting material and recycling costs.
Adaptability
With a 5’ x 12’ table size, Newact’s CNC Routers are able to produce parts with a wide range of thickness, shapes, and quantities. With a larger cutting area, the CNC Router can out-perform a mill by producing larger pieces or additional number of parts using one piece of sheet to save on costs.
Quality
Newact’s CNC Routers have been excellent for holding unique shapes that require a high tolerance. From intricate inlays, curves and raised borders, the CNC Router has the ability to provide you with a reliable and quality part whether it’s 1 piece or 100.

Is your business growing quickly or are you about to begin a new product line? What about your maintenance, repair or operating parts needs? Maybe you are in the design phase and are looking to define your scope of a project. How do you identify and choose the right supplier for you?
Identifying and choosing a new supplier for your business can quickly become overwhelming due to the seemingly endless number of options out there. We put together a guide to help you with the process.
Step #1: Outline your goals and concerns:
Maybe you are increasingly unhappy with your current supplier who is struggling to maintain his delivery times or has cost overruns. Maybe it has been difficult for a supplier of yours to complete the project to your specifications. Write down what you don’t like about your current vendor and what you are looking for in a new one. Make sure to include the variety of services that you would like a true business partner to have.
Get specific…. Dive deep by setting up a meeting with your management team and purchasing department to outline what you love, hate and want. What is on your wish list? Don’t count anything out; you may just find a company that can do everything you desire and more. Maybe you desire a fabricator that has their own powder coating operation in house? Or possibly a machine shop that specializes in plastics? Outline some “home run” options that might save you money.
Step #2: Establish a timeframe:
It can be super easy to jump ship with one supplier and quickly sign on with a new one after seeing new pricing. Try not to do this. You may get yourself in the same unsatisfactory situation you’re in right now by being too quick in the process of finding a new company to serve you.
Outline a time frame that you would like to achieve including sufficient time to effectively view facilities, compare and finalize quotes. Sometimes a potential vendor may miss certain details that drastically change the amount of a project. Receiving a quick quote shows interest, but sometimes a little longer time frame while quoting may be more thorough and more effective to the end result.
Step #3: Assemble your staff:
Now that you have your goals and time frame established, it’s time to delegate the process of vendor selection and implementation. Before researching vendors, single out some of your top employees in different departments (at least two employees) and create a committee to certify the new vendor.
Who will select the new supplier? Who will be standing by while implementation happens? Who will manage the ongoing relationship with the partner? All of these are important questions to answer before moving forward.
Step #4: Evaluate suppliers:
Start searching for suppliers by looking at online reviews and talking with trusted colleagues or sales representatives you currently have and trust. From there, do some investigating. Pick up the phone (or have a member of your committee do this) and call the vendor’s customer service line. Does an employee at the company pick up quickly?
Once you are on the phone with a customer service representative, ask a few technical and non-technical questions about the company’s capabilities. How does the employee respond? Are they pleasant over the phone? Are they helpful? Are you getting transferred multiple times before your questions are answered?
Review the company’s website. Are there easy-to-access guides to help potential customers or even videos to walk clients through problems?
Step #5: Quote an Item and Evaluate:
After evaluating a number of vendors, narrow your list down to two or three companies and then ask for them to quote an item that you may need in the future or possibly use frequently. This may be an indicator for their thoroughness in quoting. Don’t make the item too simple as some shops have different niches than others.
Also don’t be afraid to ask them that if/when you run into problems, how it is handled? As a part of the quoting process, research the cost of freight. A local manufacturer may come up with a higher per piece cost, but may be able to save you money on freight and the convenience of being LOCAL. You also should outline your favorite aspects of working with these suppliers?
Step #6: Make the choice:
By now, your gut (or that of your supplier committee members) will be telling you which company to go with. Consider the company’s price, its service record, recommendations from other customers and your feelings toward the supplier. Then act confidently, knowing that you are making the right decision for your business.
